Cassandra Mason5 StarAs both a chiropractor and a woman recovering from breast cancer, I cannot recommend The Recover Zone in San Mateo highly enough. Their holistic approach to wellness has been a powerful part of my healing journey.
I was seeking holistic methods of detoxifying my body and supporting my healing after chemotherapy and radiation. That is when I met Marcie, owner of the Recover Zone. Marcie shared the benefits of HOCATT with me and I knew that I needed to give it a try. After my first HOCATT session, I noticed a significant boost in my energy levels. I completed a series of five sessions, and during that time also began using the infrared sauna. By the end of those five weeks, I experienced a noticeable reduction in brain fog, muscle and joint pain, and overall fatigue. It was a turning point.
As part of my ongoing post-cancer treatment, (for the next several years) I take estrogen-blocking medications and receive monthly injections. These life-saving therapies unfortunately come with side effects—chronic inflammation, joint and muscle pain, low energy, and mental fog. The infrared sauna, in particular, has been incredibly effective in helping me manage those symptoms.
Under the recommendation and guidance of Marcie and Erin, I committed to using the infrared sauna weekly, and later, twice a week. The difference has been remarkable. On the weeks I miss, my pain creeps back in. When I stay consistent, the results are clear—not just to me, but to my family, friends, and even my patients, who’ve commented on how vibrant and healthy I look. I am so very grateful for these amazing recovery modalities, they have given me back ME.
I now refer all of my chiropractic patients to The Recovery Zone for their wide range of healing modalities—HOCATT, infrared sauna, red light bed, and more. Each of these therapies supports detoxification, reduces inflammation, and helps restore balance in the body.
If you haven’t visited The Recovery Zone yet, you are truly missing out on something special. They’ve helped me reclaim my energy, my clarity, and my sense of wellness—and I’m confident they can do the same for you.

Ravi Tejasvi5 StarI regularly visit The Recovery Zone in San Mateo for their sauna sessions. The facility is always pristine clean, and the owners and staff are consistently super friendly. I'm looking forward to trying their cold plunge soon.

John Scott Sojda5 StarI have been suffering from chronic late stage Lyme disease for 9 years now. I have done 1,000's and 1,000's of hours of research. I have tried every treatment, supplement, and detoxification protocol imaginable. This past 6 months has been horrendous, and the suffering I have endured is absolutely impossible to put into words. But basically bedridden. Unable to do anything!!!
This past Monday I did my first HOCATT treatment at Recover Zone and the results have been phenomenal! In the last few days I completed 3 MASSIVE projects, lifted weights for the first time in over 6 months, and all of my horrible cognitive issues and brain fog have been reduced by about 80%! And my mood has been substantially elevated and I feel so much clearer and calmer.
I feel extremely fortunate to have come across Recover Zone this past weekend. Marcie and her staff are amazing, and they truly care about their clients and their health. I cannot wait to book my next appointment and do another session. Definitely on the right path!Thursday 12th December 2024
Johanna Ta5 StarBooked a 20 minute red light therapy bed session and cold plunge here for 48 hours after running my first half marathon. Booking was very easy and I was able to make an appointment via DM on @therecoverzone IG. It was recommended to bring a bathing suit, metal water bottle, and ear buds (if you want to listen to music). The space is modern and inviting, and very clean with ample street parking. The red light bed was so relaxing, and the 20 minutes flew by pretty quickly - I was given blackout glasses for my eyes and a towel to roll up under my neck for extra comfort. Next came the cold plunge - this was my first time ever doing a cold plunge and I was definitely nervous. The temperature was set at a frigid 43 degrees F but the owner Marcie really helped walk me through what to expect and coach me through breathing exercises. She even helped time me and stayed with me so I felt supported. As a result, I was able to stay in the plunge for 2 minutes - not bad for my first try! Now that I know what to expect my goal for next time will be to try for 3 minutes.
Once I finished my two treatments, I already felt better and my muscles and knees felt great! Within 24 hours I was already back at the gym! I will definitely come back and will add the sauna session as well.Monday 22nd January 2024
